ZeGen Energy is a Scottish-based company founded in the spring of 2020 as part of the 4th cohort of Grey Matters, an accelerator programme by Elevator UK and Scottish Enterprise that supports innovators in NE Scotland, the country’s largest energy-producing region.

Their ambition is to change the way the world views its most abundant and reliable energy resource - Geothermal Energy. As 2022 comes to a close, ZeGen Energy is set to deliver its 4th customer-funded project.

“For us, it is always about how geothermal adds value to a project. From strategic geothermal market assessments, repurposing oil and gas infrastructure in Ukraine, integrated geothermal power assessments on offshore assets, and deep geothermal heat projects in hot highland granites, we apply our deep industry knowledge and experience to extract the most from every project we get involved with. We’ve left no rock unturned in the hunt for geothermal value. ”

Gillian White

Gillian brings her subsurface and big picture net-zero energy transition tech expertise to ZeGen. She understands that innovative ideas require collaboration and a willingness to jump to make it happen.

Gillian’s background as a project geologist working with and managing multidisciplinary teams for subsurface operators in the North Sea UK underpins her extensive knowledge of what’s happening beneath the surface across the region. Recently, as Technology Advisory Manager at the Net Zero Technology Centre she oversaw technical teams taking net-zero technology concepts and building collaborative projects around them, including academic and business partners, to test viable solutions. There, she gained a big-picture understanding of the energy transition that includes connecting offshore and onshore energy systems.
